Sinister and chilling. Thanks for buddy-reading with me. In "Will to Murder," a Minnesota crime reporter, a Duluth police detective and a county prosecutor team up tell the story of the crime and the trial that followed. Evil exists in these two men, this goes without saying. Local authors like William Kent Krueger, John Jodzio and Brad Zellar romp through the cities' underbelly with plenty of grit and a dose of dark humor.

They've edited three anthologies of local mystery stories together, tapping other authors from around the state to contribute. In "Faint Praise," the sixth Lawless book, she investigates a string of deaths in the shadow of Minneapolis' Foshay Tower. It offers a slightly different twist on a murder mystery. MN every summer.

Blame the subzero temperatures for their cold-hearted approach to killing off characters. When the body of an attractive young woman is found on a deserted beach, no sign of how she got there and no clue as to her identity, the local police are quickly stumped. Enjoy a relaxing getaway in our lakeside cottages! Or her other friends?! But I guess Josh is getting over her. That's right.

Two bookstores in the Twin Cities are stocked entirely with mysteries. Interesting story narrated from a unique point of view. One of the things Resort to Murder book really like is how the relationships [in this series] progress at a normal rate, neither too quickly nor too slowly.

It could be the cold. This story offers a different perspective on life in northern Minnesota. NOTE: While we edited the chat to minimize plot spoilers, there are some relationship spoilers for people who have not yet reached this point in the series.

This is way more of a cheesy romance with an annoying lead vs a mystery with actual intrigue. Who could the author pair him with? The story contained another promising concept that simply needed better execution in order to really work. Fortunately, Miss Judy Dimont, former covert agent and current ace reporter with the Riviera Express, is on the case.

I had it pegged but it took most of the book. In the Red River Valley, she uncovers an old, unsolved murder she can't resist pursuing. The man has GOT to stop using so many similes as a writing crutch. Paul's Grand Avenue. I liked this one.

Police theorized that, during a phone call between Robison and Scolaro hours before the murder, Robison revealed that he had found out about the embezzlement. But I guess Josh is getting over her. An OK short story.
